What is the project?
Mantyx is building an AI-powered surgical co-pilot: a real-time intelligence layer that recognises, live in the operating room, which phase of a procedure is underway and which key events are unfolding. Teaching an AI to “read” surgery like this starts with one essential ingredient: large amounts of expertly annotated surgical video.
That's where you come in. Mantyx is now extending its co-pilot from urology into gynaecology, beginning with Robot-Assisted Total Hysterectomy (RATH). Over the year, you'll help build the very first high-quality, expert-validated dataset for this procedure: annotating RATH surgical videos with the phases, key events and critical steps that define the operation.
And you won't do it alone. You'll work side by side with gynaecological surgeons and RATH experts who guide the annotation process and validate its clinical accuracy, so you're not just labelling video, you're learning to see surgery the way a specialist does.
The dataset you help create becomes the foundation Mantyx uses to train its phase-recognition models, and the very first step in bringing surgical AI into an entirely new field of surgery. In short: your work here goes straight into a real clinical-AI product built to make surgery safer and more consistent.

have a solid grasp of surgical anatomy and procedural steps, or are eager to learn, it's what lets you recognise the phases and events in a procedure
are meticulous, patient and consistent; good annotation lives and dies by attention to detail

are reliable and motivated to commit across the academic year
