Prof. Dr. Erik Ranschaert
Radiologist and Visiting Professor at Ghent University, specialising in artificial intelligence in medical imaging, with a focus on clinical implementation, diagnostic accuracy and responsible AI integration.
Nuno Miguel Pedrosa de Barros, PhD
Senior Researcher at icometrix, specialising in AI-driven neuroimaging and the development of advanced medical imaging technologies to improve the diagnosis and monitoring of neurological diseases.
Valerie Storms, PhD
Digital health innovation expert and patient advocate with a PhD in Bioinformatics, combining expertise in healthcare technology and patient engagement to promote accessible, patient-centred innovation.
AI IN MEDICAL IMAGING PANEL
Explore how artificial intelligence is transforming medical imaging. From faster MRI reconstruction and lower-dose PET scans to automated detection of tumors and abnormalities, this panel highlights the latest applications of deep learning. Experts will also discuss key challenges, including data quality, reliability, explainability, and regulatory requirements.
Prof. Tom Braekeleirs
Professor of Digital Medical Technology at Ghent University and digital health innovation expert, focusing on artificial intelligence in healthcare and the impact of emerging technologies on patient care.

WORKSHOPS
Nuclivision
Nuclivision is a Ghent-based medtech start-up using artificial intelligence to advance nuclear medicine. Its software platform, Nuclarity, enables high-quality PET imaging with lower doses of radioactive tracers and shorter scan times, making scans safer for patients and more efficient for hospitals. Focusing on oncology and neurology, Nuclivision aims to improve the early detection of cancer and Alzheimer's disease.
Materialise
Materialise, based in Leuven, is a pioneer in 3D printing and medical software. The company was among the first to create accurate, physical models of bones and organs from medical images. Today, its technologies support surgeons in planning complex procedures using patient-specific anatomical models and surgical guides, while increasingly integrating artificial intelligence into its solutions.
Lynqo
Founded in Antwerp in 2024, Lynqo is a start-up dedicated to making operating rooms smarter and more efficient. Using computer vision, its technology tracks which surgical instruments are picked up and returned, without filming staff or patients or disrupting existing workflows. This helps hospitals optimise surgical instrument sets based on actual usage, reducing workload and costs while improving operating room efficiency.
Mantyx
Mantyx, a spin-off from Orsi Academy, is developing an AI-powered copilot for robotic surgery. Through voice commands, surgeons can access medical images and navigate scans during procedures without leaving the robotic console. The system can also recognise different phases of surgery and estimate the remaining procedure time, supporting a smarter and more efficient surgical workflow.
Da Vinci: Introduction to Robot-Assisted Surgery
Get hands-on experience with the da Vinci Surgical System, one of the leading platforms in robot-assisted surgery. This interactive workshop begins with a brief introduction to setting up the console, controlling the instruments and navigating the camera. Afterwards, participants will work in small groups across five da Vinci systems, practising precision, depth perception and instrument handling while experiencing robotic surgery firsthand.
